Evidence for Supplements (“we”, “us”) publishes educational information about dietary supplements at evidenceforsupplements.com. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why, and your choices. We aim to handle personal information consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles, and to respect the rights of readers in other countries, including under the EU/UK GDPR where it applies.
What we collect
- Email newsletter. If you subscribe to our weekly Evidence Update, we collect your email address, and your name if you choose to give it. We also record when and how you subscribed and confirmed. We use double opt-in: you are not added until you click the confirmation link we email you.
- Messages you send us. If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you include in your message.
- Technical data. Like most websites, our hosting provider automatically processes technical information such as IP address, browser type and pages requested. This is used for security, caching and keeping the site running. We do not currently use advertising or analytics tracking.
We do not ask for health information about you. Please don’t send us personal medical details. We can’t give individual medical advice by email.
How we use it
- To send the newsletter you asked for.
- To reply to your messages.
- To keep the website secure and working.
We do not sell, rent or trade personal information. We do not use it for advertising profiling. We do not accept payment from supplement companies.
Who we share it with
We use trusted service providers to run the website and newsletter, including our web host, Hostinger, and its email newsletter service. These providers process data on our behalf and may store it on servers outside Australia, for example in the European Union or the United States. We choose providers that protect personal information to a standard comparable to Australian privacy law. We may also disclose information where the law requires it.
Cookies
The site uses essential cookies needed for it to function, such as performance caching. It also uses WordPress login cookies for site administrators. If we add analytics or advertising in future, we will update this policy and ask for consent where required.
How long we keep it
Newsletter subscribers stay on our list until they unsubscribe. After that, we keep only a record that you unsubscribed, so we don’t email you again. We keep messages only as long as needed to deal with them.
Your choices and rights
- Unsubscribe at any time using the link in every newsletter email.
- Access and correction: you can ask what personal information we hold about you and ask us to correct it.
- Deletion: you can ask us to delete it.
- Complaints: please contact us first. If we can’t resolve your concern, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (oaic.gov.au), or to your local data-protection authority if you live outside Australia.
Security
We use reputable providers, HTTPS encryption and restricted administrator access to protect personal information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
Children
This site is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16.
